CZ Chicago HUB, A Combined CFC Effort 
Chicago FEBs 9/11 Virtual Memorial Stair Climb sign up is now open to federal employees in support of 2023 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). CFC is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year. This unique opportunity is a great way to remember those who served and support those who continually serve every day.
In honor of those who lost their lives on 09/11/2001, and in continued honor of our first responders and military who protect us from foreign and domestic threats, we can unite in remembrance for the Central Zone, Chicago FEB Virtual Memorial Stair Climb.
- Giving Period September 1st – January 15th, 2024
- Auto payroll deductions option will begin January 1, 2024
Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season will support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.
How do I complete the climb?
You can complete the stair climb in the following ways:
- Climb 2071 stairs.
- Take 2071 steps.
- Walk/Run 1 mile.
- Cover 1 mile distance with assistance or an assisted device.
- Climb, Run, Walk, or cover any distance in remembrance.
The World Trade Center’s Twin Towers each consisted of 110 floors (2,071 steps~1 mile).
Is there a pledge to participate?
Yes, we have 3 tiers to pledge.
Employees selects the CFC listed charity that receives their pledge; CFC Donor Pledging System (opm.gov) Pledges via payroll deduction or one time check via check or credit card.
What are the tiers?
Tier 1 – The Supporter
Participating federal employees are asked to pledge a one-time $23, or $1 per pay period.
Why $23?
09 (month)+11 (day) + year (2+0+0+1) = 23

Tier 2 – The Contributor
Participating federal employees are asked to pledge a one-time $110, or $5 per pay period.
Why $110?
The World Trade Center’s Twin Towers each consisted of 110 floors (2,071 steps).

Federal employees who choose this level are committing to pledge and recruit other federal employees to donate to a CFC listed charity on behalf of their participation in the stair climb to reach a pledge goal of $2,071, or >.

110 floors consist of 2,071 steps.
